DoubleTake™ Personalization System

The Next Level - Protection Against Alteration

So lets assume, for arguments sake, that a determined counterfeiter with high-end equipment and plenty of savvy gets past the induced moiré and generational rasterizing problems. Where does that leave him? Can he change the name? No. It's written into the background on three different colour planes. In our Figure 6 example, there is an average 100 occurrences of the ten character name Jane C. Dough per colour plane, for a total of 3000 absolutely unique characters, as each character captures a different piece of image data. To change the name, each unique character would need to be replaced with one that held exactly the same image data. Any attempt to replace any portion of the background would result in obvious flaws in the picture. What about just changing the photo? Same problem. We run the DoubleTake™ characters seamlessly right through the picture area, insuring that any attempt at photo substitution will be obvious. Up to this point, all of the security discussed has been completely overt. The encoded information is plainly accessible to both the card carrier, and the unaided observer. Beyond naked-eye inspection, a simple low-power magnifying lens allows for an on-the-spot and in-depth analysis of authenticity. With DPS documents, the truth really is written all over your face. But there is more to a DPS image than meets the eye.
